THE MEASUREMENT OF EXPOSURE DOSE FOR HIGH ENERGY RADIATION WITH CAVITY IONIZATION CHAMBERS

Journal Article · · Phys. in Med. Biol.

The conventions adopted for measuring the exposure dose of high-energy radiation with cavity ionization chambers are reviewed, and related problems are discussed. Theoretical and experimental evidence is presented to suggest that the exposure dose is measured at the geometric center of the air volume and that corrections are necessary for absorption of the radiaition in the entire thickness of the equilibrium wall and for nonuniformity of the radiation across the chamber.
