The First International Pipeline Conference 1996 was held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on June 9--13, 1996. The main conference theme was Pipelining in a Changing Competitive Environment. The levels of competition, coupled with technological and engineering developments and regulatory changes, have been reshaping the pipeline industry all over the world. There is no doubt that the pipeline industry will have to adapt to the changing environment and find ways to be effective in the next century. The conference was intended to serve as a major international forum for the presentation of engineering work and technological developments. Volume 1 of the proceedings covered topics of Regulations, Codes, and Standards; Current Issues; Materials; and Corrosion and Integrity. Sixty two papers have been processed separately for inclusion on the data base.
