THE HIGH-ENERGY NUCLEAR ACTIVE COMPONENT OF EXTENSIVE AIR SHOWERS

An attempt was made to study nuclear cascades statistically in extensive air showers at sea level. Pulse ionization chambers placed under a combined absorber were used to register nuclear active particles and to determine their energy. The measured spectrum of extensive air showers shows a maximum at N = 2.5 x 10/sup 4/ The spatial distribution of axes proved practically uniform in the circle R = 2.5 m. (A.C.)
