RADIOACTIVE WASTE MANAGEMENT AT OAK RIDGE NATIONAL LABORATORY
The collection, treatment, disposal, and monitoring of radioactive wastes (solid, liquid, and gaseous) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory are described in detail, Illustrations of facilities, maps, and tables of data on waste volumes and radionuelides discharged to the enviromnent are included. The philosophy and history of waste management are discussed. The report constitutes an evaluation of waste management at ORNL, concluding that the low degree of radioactive contamination of the air and water by ORNL does not represent a hazard to the local environment or population.
