Work on the release of Wigner energy from pile graphite has been continued at Windscale, and the monitoring of the energy content of the graphite of the piles is now on a routine basis. Work is also continuing on the more accurate measurement of the energy content by means of an adiabatic system; and a program of work on the build-up of energy with long irradiations is in hand.
