HYDROTHERMAL SYNTHESIS OF URANINITE

Journal Article · · Soviet J. Atomic Energy (English Translation)
OSTI ID:4276085
Uraninite crystals were synthesized on slices of carbonaceous-siliceous shale by placing the shale in a quartz flask and introducing a uranyl sulfate solution with a concentration of 1 g/l. The residual air was evacuated, and the flask was placed in an autoclave and heated for 2 to 3 days at 300 deg C. Cooling was produced by plunging the autoclave into cold water. The properties of the uraninite crysta1s corresponded with those of a natural uraninite. (J.S.R.)
