The N/sup 14/( alpha , alpha )N/sup 14/ and N/aup 14( alpha , p)O/sup 17/ differential cr oss sections were measured for alpha -particle bombarding energies from 2.0 to 3.8 Mev. A differentially pumped gas scattering chamber was used. The N/sup 14/( alpha , alpha )N/sup 14/ differential cross sections were measured at center-of-mass angles of 170.8 deg . 140.6 deg . 125.1 deg . and 91.0 deg . Resonances were observed at 2.351. 2.370. 2.767. 2.568. 2.870. 3.080. 3.576 Mev and ~3.67 and ~3.71 Mev. The N/sup 14/( alpha ,p)O/sup 17/ differential cross sections were measured for alpha particle bombarding energies from 2.7 to 3.8 Mev at center-ofmass angles of 169.7 deg . 135.6 deg . 119.0 deg . and 84.7 deg . Resonances in the N/sup 14/( alpha ,p)O/sup 17/ differential cross section were observed at alpha -particle bombarding energies of 2.868. 3.080. and 3.69 Mev. (auth) The Nl/sup 14/( alpha , alpha )N/sup 14/ differential cross sections reported in the previous paper were analyzed using the dispersion formalism to obtain properties of ihe energy levels of F/sup 18/. A detailed fit of the calculated cross section to the experimental data was possible for the two broad resonances in the 3-Mev (lab) region. The 3.7-Mev (lab) anomaly cannot be accounted for by a single level. For the remaining levels, a detailed fit of the calculated cross section to the experimental data was not attempted. It was possible, however, to restrict the J values and parity of these levels by a qualitative inspection of the data. (auth)
