A COMPARISON TO THEORY OF OBSERVED STABILITY FAILURES OF THIN SPHERICAL SHELLS
Experimental data on stability failures of thin spherical-shell metal windows show that the windows fail at approximately one-third the pressure calculated by the classical theory of S. Timoshenko. The experimental data are seen to compare closely with the results calculated by the newer theories of Von Karman and Tsien. (auth)
