Tbe heat and thermal stresses produced by gamma radiation and neutron reactions in reactor pressure vessels were analyzed for different heat sources, thickness of walls, and temperatures at the surfaces of the pressure vessel. From the curves of temperatures and stresses, estimates are made about the selection of materials for the reactor pressure vessel. (auth)
