CLOUD-CHAMBER MEASUREMENT OF THE HALF-LIFE OF THE NEUTRON

The half-life of the free neutron has been measured by a cloud-chamber method. It turned out to be 12.7 min with an error of ~ 15%, ~ 10% being due to the poor statistics. This determination has about the same accuracy as the best previous measurement and confirms it by an independent method. (auth)
