PERFORMANCE OF THE SRE PROTOTYPE COLD TRAP ASSEMBLY

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4271105
Analysis is presented of the performance of the SRE prototype cold trap assembly recently tested at the Santa Susana Tower Facility. Problems in maintaining a controlled rate of oxygen addition to a circulating sodium stream are discussed. Test data for equilibrium periods of oxygen addition to the cold trap test loop are presented which indicate that the prototyme cold trap retained essentially 100% of the Na/sub 2/O precipitated in the design sodium throughput stream of 1350 lbs/hr. In addiiton, a discussion and recommendations are presented concerning operatlon of the cold traps in the SRE. (auth)
