FLUORINE-CONTAINING CONDENSATION POLYMERS AND RESINS. Period covered April 1, 1958 to January 1959

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4269084

Polyesters and polyester resin laminates were prepared using fluorinated glycols as a com polyester. The laminates were aged at elevated temperatues and physical properties measured before and after aging. Coraparison of these aging results with polyesters containing hydrocarbon glycol components of the ssme carbon chain length indicate a noticeable improvement in retention of physical preperties of the fluornated materials over the hydriocarbon analoguse. In addition, the research perfomed on the preparation. of certain fluorine-containg compound for use as starting materails for the preparation of polyesters and cross-linking monomers is described. A new and improved synthesis of perfluorglutarobutrukke us described and efforts to improve the yields of the dehydration of perfluoroglutaramide are given. Results of research; on nsual fluorinecontaining intermediatres considered desirable for uth)
