Molybdenum is handicapped by its low ductility, particluarly in weldments, at romm temperature. Limited work indicated inert-gas-shielded consumableelectrode welding may be best applied to welding of thick Mo plate, with the tungsten-arc method better for sheet up to 1/8 in. thick. Arc stability and metal transfer were improved most with direct current, straight polarity, helium-shielded consumable elec trodes coated with electron emitting compounds using high-current densities.
