AN INSTRUMENT FOR MEASURING LOW FLUXES OF HIGH-ENERGY NEUTRONS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4267355
An instrument employed for measuring low fluxes of neutrons with energies above 20 Mev is described. The instrument is very simple from the point of view of construction and handling. It is based on the activation of carbon in liquid organic scintillators by a measured neutron flux according to the reaction C/sup 12/(n,2n)C/sup 11/, and on the subsequent measurement of C/sup 11/ activity by means of photomultiplier tubes.
