BEAM INTENSITY LIMITATION IN NEUTRALIZED SPACE CHARGE BETATRONS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4262895
A criterion is derived for the maximum beam intensity admissible into a betatron. The calculations are nonrelativistic and apply to thc crucial regime near injection. Beam behavior at higher energies is considered. and ways of avoiding this intensity limitation in future machines are discussed. (W.D.M.)
