THE EFFECT OF 200 R OF X-RAYS ON THE RATE OF SPERMATOGENESIS AND SPERMIOGENESIS IN THE MOUSE

Journal Article · · Exptl. Cell Research
Doses of 200 r x rays to the testes of mice previously injected with a adenlne-8-C/sup 14/ did not delay the first appearance of or the increase in rumber of labelled spermatozoa in the ejaculate. From this evidence it is concluded that after this dose (a) spermatogenesis proceeds at the normal speed, b) there is no damage to the vasa, at least as far as the progression of spermatozoa is concerned, and (c) for the progression of spermatozoa there is no vis a tergo from the sominiferous epithelium or the epididymis.
