This article briefly aims at investigating the impact of life-styles on residential energy use. It also seeks to draw some conclusions on the eventual energy market consequences of changing life-styles, especially in economies in transition that are experiencing rapid political, economic, and political change. Special emphasis will be put on the energy use implications of the search for quality of life by households. In this context, residential-sector energy use is defined as households` overall use of energy. This includes home use, all private driving (including to and from work), and private direct and indirect use of energy in leisure activities. 11 refs.
