Multiple applications of cold crucible melting

Journal Article · · Radwaste Magazine
OSTI ID:426129
Induction-heated cold crucible melting is an increasingly promising technique in the international scientific and technical radioactive waste management community. It is capable of achieving high temperatures and power densities with virtually no melter corrosion, making it an ideal solution for many applications, from simple melting of metals, molten salts, or glass, to complex processes involving chemical reactions in molten baths, or even to the incineration of combustible waste or ion-exchange resins.
