A brief review of the discovery and formation of berkelium and californium is given. Isotopes B²⁴³ and Cf²⁴⁵, plus those prepared since the initial discovery, are listed. The tabulation includes information on half life, mode of disintegration and source. Discussions are presented on chemical properties of the elements, chemical investigations by tracer techniques, and isotopic composition. (J.H.M.)
