Elastic anomalies of heavy fermion systems in high magnetic fields

Conference ·
OSTI ID:425970
The authors present measurements of the elastic constants in high magnetic fields of heavy fermion systems. B-T phase diagrams of heavy fermion superconductors up to 23 T and temperatures down to 60 mK were determined. In contrast to the Uranium systems UPt{sub 3}, URu{sub 2}Si{sub 2} and UPd{sub 2}Al{sub 3} where the superconductivity coexists with antiferromagnetic order the situation in CeCu{sub 2}Si{sub 2} is quite different. Here the superconducting phase expells the surrounding A-phase which has magnetic and structural signatures.
