The longitudinal ultrasonic attenuation and velocity were measured on a single crystal of UPt{sub 3} in a high magnetic field of up to 23T. Earlier measurements in zero field had reported an attenuation peak at 12K in temperature sweeps that was interpreted as a resonance with a narrow density of states at the Fermi surfaces The field dependence of this attenuation peak has been studied. With increasing field, the peak is enhanced and shifts to a lower temperature. The velocity change with temperature is also remarkably affected with the magnetic field.
