The charges of relativistic nuclei in nuclear emulsions were estimated by measuring delta-ray densities along their tracks by means of a photometric densitometer. The basic principle of the method is to nieasure the ratio of the obscuration produced by the delta rays to that produced by the core of the track. The results of the measurements on 160 tracks are graphically shown. A statistical analysis of the readings showed that the standard deviation was 1 1/2 charge throughout the spectrum. (A.C.)
