THE DETERMINATION OF SILICON IN BERYLLIUM METAL

The sample is dissolved in dilute hydrochloric acid in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, and any insoluble matter is fused with sodium carbonate. The dissolved melt is added to the main solution and the silicon is determined absorptiometrically after the formation of the reduced silicomolybdic acid complex. The method is suitable for silicon contents up to 750 ppm. (auth)
