Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4254180
S>The Air Force standandized alpha survey meter, AN/ PDR-10, and six other commercially available alpha survey meters were field tested a determine their suitability for Air Force use in the monitoring of largearea plutonium contamination. The AN/PDR-10 was found to be completely unsatisfactory for field use. The other meters tested were unsatisfactory for Air Force standardization to field usage. The Eberlfae Instrument Model PAG-2G is recommended for use by the Air force as an interim instrument for alpha monitoring. A scintillation- type alpha survey instrument should be designed and developed according a specifications determined as a result of these tests, and field tested for ppssible adoption by the Air Force ss a standardized alpha survey instrument.
