Results are reported from studies on the behavior of various fission products in the soil and plant stages of food chains. Data are included on the competitive uptake of strontium and calcium in crops and soils, distribution factors in 10 crops grown in the greenhouse on soils with varying calcium content and strontium-calcium ratios the relative availability to oats of natural strontium and added strontium-89, the similarity of rubidium and potassium in the soil-plant systems and reactions of cations with soils and plants.
