Saturable reactors using cores of material with rectangular hysteresis loops can be used to obtain load voltage regulation in some types of circuits. This effect can be enhanced by the use of nonlinear resistances or varistors in conjunction with the saturable reactor. The characteristics of sueh a regulator include features which should make it attractive for use in circuits delivering fairly high d-c voltages and where power requirements are small. (auth)
