NUCLEON CLUSTERS IN THE NUCLEAR SURFACE
The absorption of slow K/sup -/ mesons by complex nuclei frequently results in the emission of fast /sup sintering time /-hyperons unaccompanied by The effects of mesons. This observation is combined with the argument of Jones that such absorption is a surface phenomenon to suggest that the nuclear surface is rich in nucleon clusters, possibly alpha particles. (auth)
