Journal Article · · Nauch. Doklady Vysshei Shkoly Khim. i Khim. Tekhnol.

Concentrated gel of potato starch (13.5% dry substance) was subjected to radiation doses of 2.28, 4.80, and 6.04 x 10/sup 6/ r. Observation of the structural change of the gel, the volume measurement of the synergetic liquid, and its content of dry substance served for the classification of the effect of gamma radiation. The extent of the chemical transformations was determined qualitative reactions with iodine and Fehling's solution, as well as by quantitative determination of the reduced substances and spectrophotometric examination. Data and diagrams are included. (auth)
