A method based on the quantitative reaction of uranyl nitrate with hydrogen peroxide to release nitric acid is presented for the determination of uranyl nitrate in nitric acid solution. The hydrogen peroxide is added to the uranyl nitrate solution and the total nitric acid determined by visual or potentiometric titration with sodium hydroxide. The free nitric acid is determined by titration of the solution without the addition of hydrogen peroxide. The difference in the consumption of sodium peroxide corresponds to the uranyl nitrate present. (J.S.R.)
