The objectives and current status of the individual research projects supported by the Metallurgy and Materials Branch, Division of Research, in the fields of physical metallurgy, solid state physics, and physical ceramics are summarized. Included is the research conducted at the Commission's laboratories as well as that performed at university and other laboratories. The information was organized into three broad categories; production treatment and properties of materials, physical research in the nature of matter, and the interaction of radiation with matter.
