It was established that the rate of deposition of niobium by the thermal decomposition of niobium iodides can be expressed in units of moles of niobium deposited per unit length of a deposition element per unit of time. The rate of deposition of niobium was studied (a) with deposition temperatures from 750 to 1100 deg C, (b) with feed material temperatures from 240 to 470 deg C, and (c) with crude niobium with different surface areas.
