Contamination studies of waste water containing I/sup 131/ were made with a consideration of the effects of the time of contact. the pH of the solution, the dilution of the contaminant liquid, and the form of the evacuation channel. It was concluded that for the most effective decontamination, it was necessary to neutralize the iodic acid effiuents. A considerable fraction of the effluent is retained by the walls of the evacuation channel. (J.S.R.)
