ABSOLUTE MEASUREMENTS OF NEUTRON FLUX IN JRR-1

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4242884
For the purpose of the power calibration test of the Japanese Research Reactor No. 1, absolute measurements of thermal neutron flux in the core of the reactor were carried out using the method of neutron-induced activity of gold foils. The induced activities of Au/sup 198/ were measured with the 6 wt.% Ru-U all - coincidence method and the 6 wt.% Ru-U all -ray counting method using a 4 The effects of flow counter, and the results obtained by these two methods coincide with each other within experimental errors. The maximum value of thermal neutron flux at the core center of JRR-1 calculated from these results was 1.2 x 10/sup 12//n/cm/sup 2//sec at 50 kw. Results were also applied to the power calibration test of JRR-1. (auth)
