HEAT TRANSFER TO WATER FLOWING PARALLEL TO TUBE BUNDLES

Journal Article · · Nuclear Sci. and Eng.
OSTI ID:4238847
A fuel element assembly consisting of cylindrical rods cooled by water flowing parallel to the axis is investigated. The results for square and triangular pitch lattices are plotted as a function of the ratio of the water fiow area to the total cross sectional area of an infinite lattice. From the graph it may be seen that both lattice types yield essentially the same heat transfer coefficients at equivalent values of the ratio. (A.C.)
