A fixed slit'' photo-electric recording head has been designed and constructed for the direct recording of uranium isotopic ratios on the echelle grating spectrograph described in the first part of this report. This head has perforred very satisfactorily. Accuracies of plus or minus 0.2% have been obtained in the determination of U/sup 235/ over the range 4 to 80%, and little maintenance has been required during six months of routine use. Means of further improving the performance of the instrument are indicated. (auth)
