The Lee model is discussed in the case already considered by Pauli and Kallen, i.e., when the characteristic equation of the eigenvalues of the energy has only real and all different roots. It is proved that introducing a suitable redefinition of the ingoing and outgoing states it is possible to construct a unitary S-matrix having reasonable physical properties. The suggested procedure is in some way similar to a renormalization which eliminates the ghost effects. (auth)
