AUTOMATIC COMPENSATION OF DEADTIME IN COUNTING EQUIPMENT
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4235658
For accurate estimation of emission rates of radioactive samples, one must ordinarily estimate the deadtime parameter of the counting system over the energy and rate range of interest. Deadtime correction factors, once determined, may be laborions to apply, and, in any event, detract from the precision of the estimate of the rate because of the uncertainty of the correction factor itself. A device is described which provides a statistical estimate of the actual sampling time during any counting interval. (auth)
