The instrumentation scheme for the OMR Critical Facility requires a scram circuit that operates within five milliseconds whenever a predetermined power level is reached. An instrument meeting these requirements was built and tested. Its detecting element is a scintillator sensitive to gamma radiation. (W.L.H.)
