The HSRC/WERC Joint Conference on the Environment was organized by the Great Plains/Rocky Mountain Hazardous Substance Research Center (HSRC), headquartered at Kansas State University, and the Waste-management Education and Research Consortium (WERC), headquartered at New Mexico State University. This joint conference brought together professionals associated with these two important consortiums. The conference was held May 21--23, 1996, at the Holiday Inn Pyramid in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The conference program consisted of 115 oral and 125 poster presentations, plenary addresses, and a luncheon address. The sessions of the conference were metals, munitions-contaminated soil, chemical technologies, technology transfer and analytical methods, technology transfer and munitions-contaminated soils, technology transfer and field applications, technology transfer and training, organic contaminants, barriers and transport, modeling and transport, nonaqueous phase liquids, contaminant fate and transport, PCBs and Mohawk National Superfund Site, risk assessment, analytical methods, bioremediation, bioremediation and volatile compounds, and phytoremediation. Individual papers have been processed separately for inclusion in the appropriate data bases.
