Phase equilibria of the La{sub 2}O{sub 3}-SrO-CuO system at 950 C and 10 kbar
- Univ. of Houston, TX (United States)
Phase equilibria of the La{sub 2}O{sub 3}-SrO-CuO system have been determined at 950 C and 10 kbar (1 GPa). Stable phases at the apices of the ternary phase diagram are CuO, La{sub 2}O{sub 3}, and SrO. Stable intermediate phases are La{sub 2}CuO{sub 4} in the LaO{sub 1.5}-CuO binary and Sr{sub 2}CuO{sub 3}, SrCuO{sub 2}, and Sr{sub 14}Cu{sub 24}O{sub 41} in the CuO-SrO binary. The La{sub 2{minus}x}Sr{sub x}CuO{sub 4{minus}{delta}} solid solution is stable where 0.0 {le} x {le} 1.3, the La{sub 2{minus}x}Sr{sub 1+x}Cu{sub 2}O{sub 6+{delta}} solid solution is stable where 1.3 {le} x {le} 2.7, the La{sub x}Sr{sub 14{minus}x}-Cu{sub 24}O{sub 41} solid solution is stable where 0 {le} x {le} 6, and the La{sub 1+x}Sr{sub 2{minus}x}Cu{sub 2}O{sub 5.5+{delta}} phase is stable where 0.04 {le} x {le} 0.16. The La{sub 2}O{sub 3}-SrO-CuO phase diagram at 950 C and 10 kbar is almost identical to that determined by other authors at 950 C and 1 atm, in terms of phase stability and solid-solution ranges.
