THE DETERMINATION OF BORON IN METHYL ALCOHOL DISTILLATES
Technical Report
·
OSTI ID:4221294
The distiilate is mixed with water, sodium hydroxide, and glycerol and evaporated to dryness. After ignition the boron is determined colorimetrically by its reaction with curcumin. This method is applicable to pure distillates of mthanol of less than 150 ml in volume. About 2 to 25 mu g is a suitable quantity of boron for determination, and the limit of detection is 0.05 mu g. In the above range the error should not exceed plus or minus 2%. (auth)
