Zirconium forms a soluble reddish brown complex with 2-(4- sulfonaphthylazo)-1,8-dihydroxy-2' -nitro sonaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid, allowing the spectrophotometric determination of zirconium. Several ions interfere with the determination.
