Journal Article · · Meditsinskaya Radiologiya (U.S.S.R.) For English translation see Med. Radiol., USSR
OSTI ID:4218145

The article deals with the study of the course of radiation sickness complicated by mechanical trauma, and its treatment. The results obtained indicate that the injury inflicted to the irradiated animals aggravated the course of radiation sickness and led to the death of all rabbits. When the animals were subjected only to irradiation with a similar dose the death rate comprised 50%, while that following trauma was 30%. Complex treatment of radiation sickness in animals recovered from the condition of shock throughout a course of 21 days effected a survival rate of 90%, whereas the lethality in the control group was 100%.
