A NOTE ON THE PAULI TRANSFORMATION

Journal Article · · Nuovo Cimento (Italy) Divided into Nuovo Cimento A and Nuovo Cimento B
OSTI ID:4217880
Definitions are given of a simple particle of spin 1/2 and of a theory of the Heisenberg type. It is shown that in a theory of the Ieisenberg-type simple particles must have mass 0. It is further shown that in order to obtain particles of mass m = 0 from such a theory it is necessary to construct at least two asympiotic spiaors from the spinor of the Heisenberg-type theory and that these two asymptotic spinors must not tranform in the same way under the Pauli transformation. Two asymptotic spinors transforming respectively as expSTA plus or minus i gamma /sub 5/ alpha ! is discussed as an illustration. (auth)
