EFFECT OF ALPHA-BETA THERMAL CYCLING ON URANIUM AND ITS ALLOYS

Journal Article · · Nucleonics (U.S.) Ceased publication
OSTI ID:4217465

Thermal cycling materials which contain above 90% uranium through the alpha - beta transition temperature (660 deg C) show dimensional instability. The thermal tests conducted were fast cycling by rapid quenching and slow cycling in a furnace. Cold-pressed and sintered alloys were generally much more stable than hot-pressed alloys. (C.J.G.)
