Radiation Effects in the Electron Synchrotron; STRAHLUNGSEFFEKTE IM ELEKTRONEN-SYNCHROTRON

The electromagnetic radiation emitted in electron synchrotrons by the rotating electron and the effect of this energy loss on the particle orbit is considered. Equations are derived which describe the energy loss from radiation, the radiation reaction on electron motion classical approximation of radiation reaction on betatron oscillations, and the quantum effect. The Matveev treatment of radiation reaction is briefly considered. The equations derived are evaluated for DESY, and the numerical results are graphed. (J.S.R.)
