Sixteen antiproton stars observed in an emulsion stack exposed at the Berkeley Bevatron to a beam of negative particles of momentum 700 Mev/c were analyzed in detail. It is found that in the elementary antiproton-nucleon annihilation an average of 4.7 plus or minus 0.6 mesons are produced, each with an average total energy of 348 plus or minus 28 Mev. No strange particles were observed as annihilation products. (auth)
