THE DETERMINATION OF NIOBIUM IN NIOBIUM METAL, MIXED OXIDES OF NIOBIUM AND TANTALUM, POTASSIUM FLUONIOBATE AND NIOBIUM CHLORIDES

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4214402
The niobium is determined by a differential colorimetric technique in solutions containing a controlled fluoride content. The complexing agent is pyrogallol stabilized with sodiunn sulfite. The method may be applied to samples low in iron titanium, molybdenum, and tungsten (1% each) and free from polybasic organic acids such as oxalic and tartaric acids. The final sample used for the actual colorimetry should contain 500 to 800 mu g and the precision is expected to be of the order of plus or minus 1% (3 x standard deviation). (auth)
