Characterization of the 10 hour 196Au isomer

Journal Article · · Physica
The Au196 isomer was found to decay with a half life of 10.0 plus or minus 0.5 hours. Scintillation spectrometer and beta ray spectrometer studies show the existence of four transitions. The half life is governed by an M4 isomeric transition of 176 plus or minus 2 kev which is followed by two gamma rays of 149 plus or minus 2 and 186 plus or minus 2 kev in cascade; a transition of 84 plus or minus 2 kev is probably in cascade with the other transitions.
