ON THE IMAGINARY OPTICAL POTENTIAL
BS>The imaginary part of the nuclear optical potential for nucleons is investigated in a semi-quantitative way. For simplicity, harmonic oscillator wave functions are used to penform calculations for O/sup 16/ and Ca/sup 40/. Results indicate that surface absorption is quite important for incident energies up to about 60 Mev. (auth)
